The Brilliant Expansion Project entailed the addition of a second powerhouse on the Left Bank at the Brilliant Dam, an existing generating facility on the Kootenay River in Southern BC.
Our work
Chant Limited was part of The Brilliant Expansion Consortium (consisting of Chant Limited, Skanska International Civil Works and SNC-Lavalin), which was the Design-Build Contractor.
The work included the construction of a new powerhouse, power tunnel, access tunnel and tailrace, and the construction of a new access road along the left bank.
HIGHLIGHTS
- Chant was part of the Brilliant Expansion Consortium, which submitted the optimum solution for the expansion work
- The project added approximately 120 MW of hydroelectric capacity to the Lower Kootenay River System
- Alstom supplied and installed the single 120 MW Kaplan turbine/generator as a subcontractor to the consortium
