Mattagami Lake Dam Generating Station
The Project was set to proceed as a two unit electricity generating facility with a 5.8 MW output, a rated flow of 40 cms, rated net head of 15.8 m and an expected annual generation of approximately 29 GWh. The generating facility would be connected to the provincial grid via an existing Hydro One 115kV transmission line (T61S) located about 3 km to the east of the site.
As a subcontractor to AECOM, Chant’s initial role was to review the current design, provide alternatives and identify cost saving opportunities. Chant provided construction management, constructability and estimating services.
During the LRP connection availability assessment determined that there is no longer sufficient capacity in the Northeast region of Ontario. For additional generation work on the project has been suspended until further notice.
Scope of Work:
- Construction cost estimates during the feasibility and engineering phases
- Constructability review of design alternatives
- Risk identification and management
- Procurement support
- Owner’s representative and construction manager during execution phase (Planned)
